Cordero was tested positive for the novel coronavirus in April 2020. According to his wife, Amanda Kloots he was in very critical condition and was kept on a ventilator. He is being treated with dialysis and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
Later on April 18, Nick had a surgery to have his right leg amputated because of complications from the Novel coronavirus.

According to Amanda Kloots, he died on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Cedars-Sinai hospital after spending more than three months (90 days) in the hospital.
