Indian origin Ambika Mod is a British actress, comedian, and writer from London, United Kingdom. She is quite popular for her role as Shruti Acharya in the BBC drama This is Going to Hurt. 

Early Life and Family Background:

Ambika was born in 1996, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England, and grew up in Potters Bar. As a daughter of Indian Immigrants, although born and brought up in England, she maintained a close connection with Indian culture and heritage. 

Ambi’s mother arrived in London as a child and her father arrived in his 20s. She attended Dame Alice Owen’s School and after completing her school, she joined St. Mary’s College, Durham from where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English studies. 

While at Durham, discovering her interest in acting and comedy through the university’s Revue, she performed at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and also served as the troupe’s president in 2017. 

She grew up with her sister named Priya Mod. They both attended the same school during their childhood. 

Professional Life; Career and Net Worth: 

After graduating from college, like many youngsters, she has no idea what to do. She was totally confused. Finally, she decided to pursue a career in comedy. She began writing comedy stories and started doing stand-up comedy sessions. Slowly, she started receiving offers for doing paid shows.

Like all typical Asian parents, her parents were also worried about her career. They didn’t know how good she was at comedy and told her to be serious in her life and choose the right career path. 

According to them, stand-up comedy was just a hobby. But Modi convinced her parents about her interest in the entertainment industry and finally, they started supporting her. Soon, she began getting roles in short movies where she realized the feelings of working as an actress. 

Later on, she joined The Assembly Rooms Theatre, Durham, and began improving her acting. By 2019, she became a part of various productions such as “The Sacrifice” and “Granddaughter”. One of her friends advised her to connect with a good talent manager, and following her advice, she joined The Artists Partnership.

The Mash Report, a comedy talk show, was the first major show that she got to work in where she appeared as Sarah. After that, she worked on a few more productions like The B@it and Trying. 

Among all these, the major highlight of her career became This is Going to Hurt where she appeared in the role of Shruti Acharya. This show gave her worldwide recognition and all the fame that she deserved. 

As of 2022, she has an estimated net worth of around $500 Thousand, which will soon rise up.
